Bangkok Weather Seasons

The cool dry season begins in late October or early November and continues until about late February or early March. This is usually the best time to visit Bangkok, with December and January the most pleasant months. Don't get fooled by the name "Cool Season" it is still very hot by western standards with daily temperatures often reaching over 30ºC during the daytime.

The hot season comes in slowly with temperatures and humidity rising in early March and peaking in late April or early May. Expect some afternoon showers starting in April and increasing during May. This can be an often unpleasant experience for those not acclimatised, with often extreme temperatures and high humidity. Doing nothing in your A/C hotel room is often the best option for some people at this time!

The rainy season follows the hot season and brings with it some relief from the high humidity, although temperatures are still very hot. September and October are usually Bangkok's wettest month and you may be unlucky to find the streets flooded. This is due to the fact that most of the city is only a few feet above sea level and that the storm drains at times, are unable to remove the downpours quickly enough. June and July and August are usually the best time to visit in the rainy season, with much less rainfall and often long periods of clear weather. Rain tends to fall in the late afternoon or evening, but can strike at any time.

There are many things to do and see in Bangkok so why not take an organised tour in Bangkok or a tours from Bangkok to visit nearby cities such as the historic old capital of Ayutthaya or visit "the Death Railway" in Kanchanaburi.
