Located in Phetchaburi province only 200 km south of Bangkok and 25 km north of the much larger resort town of Hua Hin, you transport yourself into a different world of long, often empty, white sandy beaches, great seafood, blue skies & lazy days.

About Cha Am

When you come to Chaam you really feel like you are in Thailand and most of the town is still geared towards the Thai weekend break tourists who come down from Bangkok to enjoy the seaside activities and of course the plentiful supply of delicious cheap seafood on offer, which to Thai's is one of the most important things, as eating is a national pastime and you can understand why when you have tasted some of the Thai food.

If you arrive in Chaam's main beach at the weekend or during a public holiday the main area of the beach will be packed with day trippers and families that have come down from Bangkok for a few days.
Arrive here during the week and most of the beach is pretty empty and life is much more relaxed.

In recent years Chaam beach has been developing fairly quickly with a lot more international standard hotels being built and the area is gaining more popularity with western tourists looking for a more relaxed Thai beach resort and is also an excellent choice for family holidays in Thailand.

About Cha-Am's Beaches

The main beach in town extends for over 5 km. From the fishing village and river at the northern end, where the beach is much wider, there is a beach side road ( Ramjit Road ) the runs along the whole stretch and is full of guest house, hotels and restaurants. The beach narrows out towards the end of the road then continues on all the way down to Ban Kwai and Mrigadayavan Palace where there are a couple of Army / Air Force bases, then it extends all the way down to Hua Hin some 20 + km away.

This area to the south of town is popular among foreign tourists and has some really nice beach resorts dotted along the coastline.

To the north of the fishing village the beach continues for about another 8 km all the way past the Eurasia Lagoon hotel. This area is at the moment fairly undeveloped with just a few hotels such as the luxurious Allia ( now just called The Hotel ), but new resorts are starting to be built recently and I expect more in the future.
Unfortunately these new buildings have ruined the beach in areas here, as the first thing they do is build a sea wall right up to the waters edge so taking away the natural beach.
